Kent Manor’s Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Application

The owners of Kent Manor have applied to the Army Corps of Engineers for permission to fill in some wetlands. The documentation for that is here. You have until April 17, 2009 to submit your comments (in writing) to the corps. We can stop this thing.

  • Cliff, they can make all the wetlands they desire but right now that’s an open lot surrounded by forest in a rather populated areas, a veritable feast for many birds other edge species including the flora that’s growing there now. I’d hate to see that ruined just so property taxes for the rest of us can be increased.

As for the ACOE, they’re fine as governmental organizations go but you know as well as I do that they’ll grant whatever permits they’re told to grant… including this one.

    Jeff,

Aren’t we reading in the A.C. of Engineers document that the developer proposes to fill in eight tenths of an acre of wetlands but to also establish a new 2 and a quarter acres of NEW wetlands.  Isn’t that a net gain for the project?
Isn’t a good thing that the Army is soliciting public input into their process of evaluating whether or not to grant a permit?  Are you distrustful of these Army engineers?
