  • Thank you for give very good knowledges. Your website is greatI am impressed by the information that you have on this blog. It shows how well you understand this subject. Bookmarked this page, will come back for more. You, my friend, ROCK! I found just the information I already searched everywhere and just couldn’t find. What a perfect site. Like this website your website is one of my new favs.I like this info given and it has given me some sort of inspiration to succeed for some reason, so thanks

  • We don’t need to think about much.  We have too many government agencies period.  That equals too much in personnel costs but unless we create jobs for these people we would create a horrible burden by unemploying them.
Go with the County Government.  Put schools under the control of County Government.  Yes we have a crappy fiefdom now but it could be better, we need to reform our voting and incorporate runoffs into our elections.
Of course the elephant in the room is the State Leg.  Until we can hold a constitutional convention and revamp that body we are in no shape to make anything better.
I guess, in short, we are screwed.

Hey – why worry?  Greg’s got it all under control.  He’s collecting all the angry, bull-headed people to rally at the tea parties.  That brain trust will surely have the solution to all of our problems in no time.  As soon as he is our new State Senator, I’m confident he will reveal an incredibly clever plan that will fix everything.
So, no worries.  Just sit back and pull the lever for old Greggy Boy …  er … Ball.  It’s as easy as that.
Besides, if the whole economy doesn’t recover, we can always go back to our pastoral roots and become goat-herders.  It works, trust me, I know.
    And so does my nephew.

The first step, in my humble opinion, is recognizing that we are not in the midst of “The Information Age” but, rather, “The Opinion Age.”  Until we are able to separate fact from opinion we are substantially limited in our ability to address the real issues. Health Care Reform morphs into a battle over non-existent “death panels” and the entire debate becomes just a bunch of noise making it impossible to have a sane discussion about much of anything. Do we even understand the differences between “debate” and “arguing”?
Our next task is debunking the myths of “local control” or “home rule” which seem to exist without any corresponding price tags. Then people need to recognize that the money coming our way from Washington or Albany does not magically appear at the base of a rainbow.
Having established a “fact zone” we then can proceed to bar anyone who insists on yelling or being generally obnoxious. The remaining civil-minded types will subsequently establish a list of 3 priorities which will then be adequately funded. If there is any money left they will then be allowed to add a fourth priority.
Want full-funded universal health care? Sorry, but you may be required to give up rec programs. Refuse collection with recycling and composting? Fine, but the senior center programs have to go. The era of “I want everything and I want someone else to pay for it” needs to end and end soon.
Oh – Town Offices should be open one day a week and one day over the weekend. No one goes there anyway except developers and other politicos. And close county government entirely – please!
And does every single town in the state really need a “Receiver of Taxes”? Are you telling me we couldn’t do some on-line thing or hire some firm to handle the whole thing?

The key to any condition of well being is good, imaginative use of resources and the integration of all concerned, the community itself, that we all use (but which some sometimes take special advantage of, not to the actual benefit of the community)–and the many facets of the community.
When I was a kid and you wanted or needed to do something, you got a group together, elected officers to keep things organized, but together, decided what to do, who was going to do what, you did it, then you all had a party
There does seem to be a severe limitation to a society that gets too much into itself and we need the recognition that we exist both on a local level and on an ‘international’ level.  We need, on both levels, the awareness of, the stimulating effect of, the advantages of, different people doing things in different ways to keep us from getting ‘ingrown’.  This place can be taken by sports and many kinds of competition but it can’t be taken by fear of the stranger and all kinds of paranoias related to ‘them, out to get us’.  Even if they are out to get you, then you still need proper attention to your own strength and your own strength is a balanced and healthful integration, with your family, your neighbors and your compatriots.
Stinginess and paranoia are not the watchwords for a healthy community.  –You may need a little bit of paranoia in your leaders to focus things and give them some energy but it needs to be imaginative paranoia, focused forward.  The people can’t be paranoid or you just have a paranoid, ultimately ineffective society.

    Thanks again.

These are all services we use and generally, there is probably not excess of any of them in the county.
With some anticipatory attention to threat of bad weather, things could easily be coordinated so that preparations are in place and that major thoroughfares are maintained throughout but that people stay home (play with the kids, visit the neighbors) until it’s over, then clean up.
     Thank You.

  • How about consolidation of all health programs that are administered by the state?  It would be nice if the feds would do that too, but they seem frozen.  Eliminate the repetitive bureacracies.

How about reform of civil service, to a program that actually helps people get jobs, streamlines applications, identifies jobs online, and merges exams that have similar responsiblities?

How about allowing excelerated licensure between professions that have  similar
requirements or a bulk of the same requirements?  The “experts” keep telling us that people will have several jobs in their lifetimes.  Let’s make that feasible.

How about a central reporting agency that projects jobs in fields, and indicates whether they are entry level or will tolerate career changers?  No one should spend money and time on a second degree that will not help them get a job, unless they make that choice.
