Dear PVRC Members:

At last Wednesday’s public meeting there were many people who got up to speak against the proposed Incentive Zoning Law. They all happened to be PVRC members.

Except for Wendy Whetsel, the remaining town board members were silent. There were no pro-incentive zoning residents speaking.

Paraphrasing one PVRC member who said after the meeting: “The board did not need any pro-incentive zoning residents to speak because they already have a majority to votes in this law.”

While the town board decides what move they will make next, it is now up to us to try and stop a vote in favor of the law. The three board members who may be inclined to vote for this law will all be up for re-election in 2011.

Please view the meeting by either going to the town website, www.putnamvalley.com chanel 20 to see the meeting. Or you can watch it on local cable Channel 20 at 6:30 P.M. every evening.

To view the law and map of properties affected by the law: go to www.putnamvalleyresidents.com and click the boxes on the lower right side of the web page.

There is a map of 99 properties in town, 30 acres or more in size, that are considered currentlly undeveloped.

Here’s what you can do after viewing the video: The next phase of this battle is to take it to a public forum by writing to the local papers. The town board members actually read those papers to gauge public opinion. It also puts the issue out in public view of the developers.

Send a short letter to the following papers by email as well as the town clerk, asking her to forward it to the town board. We must go on record as to what a catastrophe this law is. It is important to give your full name and town of Putnam Valley to the 3 newspapers.

For the town clerk, please add your street address at the end of the letter to show you are a resident of Putnam Valley.
