Dave Ring along with his wife Sara owns a small organic vegetable and egg farm in East Central Indiana. In May of 2007 they opened the Downtown Farm Stand, a local organic grocery store. Poll: New Yorkers are high on legalizing marijuana | LoHud.com
Seventy-one percent of New Yorkers support making medical marijuana legal in the state, while voters have fizzled on a plan to tax soda and sugary drinks, a Quinnipiac Poll found Thursday.
Fourteen states have legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes, but while the measure has passed in the New York Assembly, it has not passed in the state Senate.
The proposal is supported in New York across political, racial and regional groups, Quinnipiac reported. Fifty-five percent of Republicans support it, compared to 78 percent of Democrats.
“It hasn't attracted a lot of attention, but New York state voters would like to emulate their New Jersey neighbors and approve medical use of marijuana,” Quinnipiac pollster Maurice Carroll said.

Personal Health – Food Rules From Michael Pollan Worth Following
In the more than four decades that I have been reading and writing about the findings of nutritional science, I have come across nothing more intelligent, sensible and simple to follow than the 64 principles outlined in a slender, easy-to-digest new book called “Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual,” by Michael Pollan.
Mr. Pollan is not a biochemist or a nutritionist but rather a professor of science journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. You may recognize his name as the author of two highly praised books on food and nutrition, “In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto” and “The Omnivore’s Dilemma.” (All three books are from Penguin.)
If you don’t have the time and inclination to read the first two, you can do yourself and your family no better service than to invest $11 and one hour to whip through the 139 pages of “Food Rules” and adapt its guidance to your shopping and eating habits.
Chances are you’ve heard any number of the rules before. I, for one, have been writing and speaking about them for decades. And chances are you’ve yet to put most of them into [...]
This evening at 6PM in Judge Spofford’s courtroom in Carmel, Lori Kemp will once again be called to answer a charge against a man she directly ordered to leave her property. The man “fell” and allegedly hurt himself so bad that he would not go through the hassle of filing charges against her. But the cop on the scene (there was a cop on the scene?) decided that he would instead and the case moves forward from there. [...]

Good Wednesday Morning,
It’s another beautiful May morning out there today. Dry weather, sunny skies, cool but warming today. Hopefully you’ve got your gardens in and the asparagus and radishes are coming in by now. We’re up to some 80 degrees come Friday so get ready!
I gave a presentation on Stormwater issues last evening at the Lake Carmel Community meeting. Previewed were four Public Service Announcements I produced for the Town of Kent’s Stormwater Committee. You can view the videos here and you should. They’re great. Really.
Maybe it’s just me but I’ve noticed the price of gasoline has been creeping up again, sometimes a nickel a day. Keep an eye on Exxon’s profits and tell me there’s no correlation.
The NY State Assembly passed important civil rights legislation yesterday. By a vote of 89-52 that body said that same-sex couples should have the same legal rights as anyone else. Two years ago Assemblywoman Sandy Galef voted against the bill and if you remember I wasn’t kind about that decision, stating that civil rights should not be based on polling data but on justice. This year she voted in favor, stating on the Assembly floor during [...]
