And while we’re down there, guess who is trying to get the state to do his road widening work for him on Route 6? You guessed it! Mike Griffin! Nah, Paul Camarda is, that’s who. And is anyone surprised? Why are we spending county tax dollars doing the business for an out-of-state developer with deeper pockets than the county? Why are we spending any man-hours at all on this? [...]

Early maps show Philipstown being more recatngularish from when it was divvied up among the Philipse Family. The 1892 USGS map shows the current westernmost line of Kent, the line that runs along the Philisptown Pike (Route 301) AND the *old* town line as well. That line is missing from the 1941 map which has the current town lines in position. [...]
Well, folks, this part of the battle is over again. Again. But this being Putnam County where one-party government will do what it pleases – even if it says something else – this whole thing can come roaring back once again so let’s not let our guard down. Ever. [...]
We need to watch the county legislature rather closely these days. With a brewing scandal over the use of their official letterhead for personal purposes continuing to rile people, many wonder if Vincent Tamagna has the support of his fellows to continue on with his position as Chair of that body. While no one is perfect and everyone has skeletons in their closet, (including you and me), this incident, following closely on the heels of the disastrous Tilly Foster contract (see here, here, here and here), should be enough to shake them from their complacency, take notice and take action. [...]
While banks are foreclosing on homes across the region, that $3.7 million could go a long way towards helping distressed homeowners and if the County Legislature wants to dole out the bucks they could at least help those folks. Or open a full time walk-in health and dental clinic. Or heck, even free the tank they’ve got in a cage at the county park. I mean, really… if the Legislature insists on spending that money on something other than the general fund, at least spend it in a way that would benefit the residents of this county and not a resident of Ridgefield, Connecticut. [...]
Sometimes it seems we’re living in a world that even Franz Kafka could not have envisioned and that Philip K. Dick has never had even in wildest nightmares. The Russian bureaucracy of Kafka’s day has nothing on Putnam County today. For just when you think it’s safe to go on about your lives our elected officials do something so outrageous that you want to take the entire lot and have them locked in stocks along Lake Gleneida. Just such an event took place last week when a letter from Vincent Tamagna, written on official Legislative stationary, ended up as an insert in the Putnam County News and Reporter. (Link) [...]
Sources say that the County Legislature, led by Philipstown’s Vincent Tamagna, and the Physical Services Committee which is headed up by Kent’s Richard Othmer, is now actively working with the State DOT to get them to pay for the road improvements developer Paul Camarda had promised to make on his own dime. Apparently the $3.7 million is a make-or-break deal for him and that without someone footing the bill Patterson Crossing may be mortally wounded. [...]
